Ready or Not

Our little Curly Q rolled over today. I'm still in denial. She can't be old enough to roll over. The video is NOT of her rolling over. It is, however, a video of her 'almost' rolling over. She's been doing this for a few days now. She usually does this when she's fussy and crying. She rolls way over to her side and sucks her thumb. Moments after I took this video, I left the room to put the camera away and Little Miss comes running to tell me that Curly Q rolled over by herself. I come in their room to find Curly Q on her tummy. I asked Little Miss a million times if she helped her roll over and she insisted that she didn't. Then later this afternoon, Little Miss comes to tell me that Curly Q rolled over AGAIN, and I missed it AGAIN! Once again, I ask Little Miss if she is pushing her sister over onto her tummy. And Little Miss insists that Curly Q is doing by herself. So, I flip Curly Q back over on her back, because she doesn't really like to be on her tummy once she rolls there. Silly girl. Then, finally, this evening, Morgan was home from work and we were all circled around Curly Q on the floor and she rolled over for us all to see. Little Miss got to see it 3 times, but Morgan and I got to witness it for the first time together.

So Talented

Look at Little Miss showing off her talent! She can touch her nose with her tongue. She's been able to do this for a while. Neither Morgan or I can do this. We're not sure if she'll always know how to do this, or if she will grow out of it. While Little Miss was doing that, Curly Q was doing this:

Blue Eyed Babes

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to rotate this picture. You'll just have to turn your head to look at my beautiful girls. I LOVE them!

5 Months Old

Time is such a strange thing. It feels like forever ago that Curly Q was born. Her time in the NICU is starting to fade into memories. It feels like a long time ago. But then I think that she can't possibly already be 5 months old. I am so grateful, every single day, for this little miracle baby in my life. It's fun to (finally) start to show off Curly Q to friends and family. She is such a happy, easy baby. She's so full of smiles. She is so content to lay on the floor and observe the excitement around her. Her acid reflux is improving. I'm cutting back on her medication and she seems to be tolerating it. She is a CHAMP sleeper and eater. She still loves sucking her thumb. I LOVE her! I can't even imagine our family without her now.

4 Month Check Up

Curly Q posing without her oxygen!
Curly Q had her 4 month check up today. Even though, she's about a week and a half away from being 5 months old. (Her immunization schedule got a little off in the NICU). She is putting on weight nicely. Her Doc is impressed. She weighs an even 12 pounds which is in the 10%! Yay, she went from less than 5% (2 months ago) up to the 10%. She is 23 3/4 inches long which is 10.25%. Two months ago, she was in the less than 3% for height. And her head size is still in 5%. Overall, she is looking great.

We completed an overnight study to test her oxygen saturation a couple nights ago. We were hoping that she could come off of oxygen. After the Doc consulted with a Neonatologist, they determined that she needed to stay on oxygen for another month, then we'll test it again. So, not the results we were hoping for, but that's okay.

She had to get her immunizations, which are sad. She was a brave baby girl though. After screaming really hard for a minute, she fell asleep practically as soon as I picked her up. She's been sleeping all day. Poor girl.

Thumb Sucker

Curly Q has discovered that she loves sucking on her hands. I think it's adorable. I know most of it is just exploration, but its starting to look like we have a thumb sucker on our hands. Curly Q almost exclusively sucks on her thumb (instead of her other fingers). She often does it to help her fall asleep. When I check on her in her crib, she often has her thumb still in her mouth - even when she's asleep. I'm not sure if I should try to break her of this habit, or be grateful that she falls asleep on her own to easily. Hmmm.
Sometimes while she is sucking on her thumb, she uses her other fingers to hold on to her oxygen tubes.
