Baby Girl is Here!

So, Baby Girl waited as long as she possibly could. I was 30 weeks 1 day, when she was born. It was a super crazy story. I started having pretty painful contractions Sunday night and all day Monday. They weren't getting any closer than 7 minutes. They just monitored them, but it was just a waiting game until they started getting closer together. With me being ruptured, it's not standard to check for dilating. My Monday AFI revealed that I had ZERO measurable fluid. So, I was on continuous monitoring to check baby. Contractions still came pretty regularly and pretty painfully. I made it through Monday night with a little bit of sleep. Tuesday morning, same thing. I got up to go to the bathroom, and this is where it got strange. I felt something passing, but it wouldn't drop into the toilet. So I wiped a little and felt something sticking out. I felt a little more, and it felt like little fingers on a hand. So, I literally YELL for my nurse to come. She comes, and I asked her what was sticking out, and she said "That's a little hand." My response was, "Yeah, that's what I thought it was." She helps me walk carefully back to my bed and so begins the craziness of an Emergency C Section. I called Morgan and told him to come NOW. Suddenly my room filled with a dozen nurses and doctors. They gave me an IV, drew some blood, got my signature on a consent, and rushed in to the OR. They continued to get everything ready while the drug Doc numbs me up. They move me onto the operating table, and the dozens of doctors and nurses that are busy all stop to look at the baby hand sticking out. Lovely. It all happened so quickly. Baby Girl was born at 9:21 a.m. Morgan missed it. When he got here, they took him to see her before he came in to be with me. He was there while they were stitching me back up.

It was a very unreal experience. It didn't seem like it was actually happening. They announced delivery time, but Baby Girl didn't cry or anything. They whisked her away to the respiratory specialists without me even seeing. It seemed to take forever to be stitched back together, then they wheeled me back to my room to recover for a couple hours. I was numb and completely comfortable. It was a welcome break from the past two days of painful contractions. It still didn't feel real. I kept telling myself that I'm not pregnant anymore and I have a baby daughter. They wheeled me through the NICU on my way to the recovery floor so I could finally see my baby.

She weighed 3 lb 10 oz and was 17 inches long. We were shocked at how big she was. She looks a lot like Little Miss did when she was born. Very very similar. She has a fair amount of brown hair, a little more than Little Miss had. She's on a respirator to help her breathe. She has a feeding tub and IVs sticking out of her belly button. They have been monitoring everything. So far, she is doing exactly how a 30 week baby should be doing. They haven't seen any concerns for long term problems, hopefully she'll learn to breathe on her own, then eat on her own too.

She already has a lot of fight and spunk. First of all, she tried to climb out hand first! (You can see her little bruised right hand. It got all beat up from its little coming out adventure) Now today, she's been trying to pull her breathing and feeding tubes out. I think she was as tired of all this as I was. But she's doing really well for being 10 weeks early. We'll keep this updated with any new information. I think progress will be slow, and we will continue to need all the prayers and support.
